Major Heat Risk exists for portions of the San Joaquin Valley this weekend. The most affected areas will be Bakersfield, up along the Coastal Range and Merced County. Much of the population is affected by Major Heat Risk, especially those without effective cooling or hydration, as well as elderly and infants. Drink plenty of water or sports drink, limit time outdoors during the warmest parts of the day, and use air conditioning during the day.
